Backpedaling. Inconsistency. Wishy-washiness. Self-contradiction.

We have so many negative ways to talk about what can so clearly be a good thing:

thinking again.

Change of Heart is a biweekly-ish newsletter about when and why we change our minds—and how it makes us better.

If we can’t change our minds, we can’t grow. If we can’t grow, we can’t get better. Finding ourselves, living authentically, and deepening our empathy all start with being open to the unexpected—and brave enough to admit we were least a little bit wrong.

Have you ever had a Change of Heart?

The submission guidelines are simple: tell us about a time when you changed your mind—and it changed everything. Nonfiction, fiction, poetry, comics, or something else entirely. All modalities allowed; 6,000 words or fewer (exceptions very welcome). Send your finished work as an attachment to changeofheart@substack.com or hit reply on an edition of the newsletter.

Although the newsletter is free for everyone, forever, we’re committed to paying contributors. Funds from paid subscriptions and tips help support this effort. You are welcome to republish your work elsewhere after it appears here.
